I played David to her Queen.

Embattled worlds were the scenes,

a warrior king and lady queen.

No one knew we played the parts--

a natural act from two hearts

other stages tore apart.

She aspired to the throne

where love reigned. And, so alone,

my battle cry became her own.

Once the part of Solomon

was all my dream. The woman's

song supplanted wisdom's theme.

Ours the war. The peace is for

others who know so much more

and think there's victory without war.
